Marc Stickdorn is a trainer and consultant for service design thinking from Germany. He internationally supports both private and public organizations to build up knowledge in the field of service design and helps them to use service design within their organizational structures and processes to reduce development costs of new products and services and to increase customer experience. In 2010, Marc published together with Jakob Schneider as editor and co-author the award-winning book “This is Service Design Thinking”. He’s currently working on his new book “This is Service Design Doing” together with Jakob Schneider, Adam Lawrence and Markus Hormess.
With a background in strategic management and information systems, Marc is a visiting / adjunct professor at various business and design schools. He published numerous papers on service design and ethnography and won several best paper awards for his research. In 2012 Marc co-founded smaply, a software company developing web-based solutions to visualize customer experiences with personas, stakeholder maps, and customer journey maps. In 2013, he co-founded ExperienceFellow, a company developing software to research customer experience through mobile ethnography. ExperienceFellow is the result of his PhD research at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany in information systems at the chair of Innovation and Value Creation. However, Marc currently focuses rather on his startups than on finishing his PhD.
