Hellmut Schütte
 

Hellmut Schütte is Professor Emeritus of International Management at INSEAD whose faculty he joined in Fontainebleau (France) in 1981 after a career in the areas of marketing and investment banking.  He is also the Dean Emeritus of CEIBS, the leading business school in China that is jointly owned by the Government of China and the European Commission.  He served this institution as distinguished professor and dean from 2009-2015, before returning to INSEAD.

He is particularly interested in influence of politics and economics on the strategies of corporations, both globally and in Asia.  He is actively involved in the discussion on the emergence of China and consequences for the world.

Professor Schütte studied economics and business administration in Germany and obtained his doctorate from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland.  He was visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, visiting professor at Boston University, and visiting scholar at Harvard University.  Up to the fall of 2006, Professor Schütte was the Dean of INSEAD’s fast growing Asia Campus located in Singapore. 

He has lived and worked in ten countries in Europe, United States and Asia.  Hellmut has taught in seminars in another 40 countries all over the world.  He is a well-known speaker and moderator in conferences, forums and business meetings such as the World Economic Forum. He is also actively involved in various boards, advisory roles and consulting assignments. Among others, he is an advisor to IMAAsia, a network of CEOs in Asia, and an active business angel who invests in digital start-ups.

Hellmut Schütte is the author of many articles, case studies and nine books, among them the best-seller ‘Strategies for Asia Pacific’. Professor Schütte is a permanent resident of Singapore and a devoted offshore yachtsman.
